Workshop of Princess Akiko

From 14th July to 16th July, HIH Princess Akiko of Mikasa visited Shimane prefecture to hold the workshop for children to make ancient accessories and straw festoons of Izumo Taisha Grand Shintoism Shrine as the President of Shinyusha.
Shinyusha provides children with various activities to experience Japanese traditional culture.

Gifu Visit of Princess Nobuko

From 28th May to 29th May, HIH Princess Nobuko of Mikasa visited Gifu Prefecture to visit Flower Festival Commemorative Park as the Honorary President of Japan Rose Society.

Rice-planting of Princess Akiko

On 20th May, HIH Princess Akiko of Mikasa participated in rice-planting took place in Niigata Prefecture.
This rice-planting event was held by Shinyu-sha, the general incorporated association established by HIH Princess Akiko aimed at handing over Japanese traditional culture.

Pacific Islands Leaders

On 17th May, HM Emperor Akihito and HM Empress Michiko held the tea party for the Pacific Islands Leaders who attend the 8th PALM (Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting) at Imperial Palace.
HIH Crown Prince Naruhito and the other members of Imperial Family also attended the tea party.

Final as the Empress

On 16th May, HM Empress Michiko, the Honorary President of Japanese Red Cross Society attended the Annual Convention of the Society took place in Tokyo.
HIH Crown Princess Masako, HIH Princess Kiko of Akishino, HIH Princess Nobuko of Mikasa and HIH Princess Hisako of Takamado, the Honorary Vice-Presidents of the Society also attended the Convention.

It became the last time for HM Empress MIchiko to attend the Convention as the Empress. HM Empress Michiko became the Honorary Vice-President of the Society as the Crown Princess right after she got married to HM Emperor Akihito in 1959 and became the Honorary President of the Society as the Empress in 1989. HM Empress Michiko has engaged in various activities of Japanese Red Cross Society for about 60 years.

At last, HM Empress Michiko introduced HIH Crown Princess Masako as the next Honorary President of the Society.

Pacemaker Replacement

On 8th May, HIH Princess Yuriko of Mikasa had an operation to replace her cardiac pacemaker at St. Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo. HIH Princess Yuriko is 94 years old.
