On 17th October, HM Emperor Akihito and HM Empress Michiko met with Mr Andre Cox, General of The Salvation Army and his wife at Imperial Residence.

On 17th October, HM Emperor Akihito and the other members of Imperial Family attended Kanname-sai took place at Imperial Palace Sanctuaries. In this ceremony held at Kashikodokoro, new crops are offered to the gods as thanks. In the morning, His Majesty offers prayers of worship to Ise Shrine at the Shinkaden.

On 17th October, HIH Crown Prince Naruhito met with the people awarded by Japan Foundation at Crown Prince Residence.

On 18th October, HIH Princess Nobuko of Mikasa attended the Autumn Memorial Service for Unknown War Dead took place at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery in Tokyo.

On 21st October, HIH Princess Hisako of Takamado attended the Autumn Gagaku Recital of Imperial Household Agency Music Department took place at Imperial Palace.

On 21st and 22nd October, HIH Princess Hisako of Takamado attended World Forum on Sport and Culture took place in Tokyo.

On 22nd October, HIH Prince Masahito and HIH Princess Hanako of Hitachi attended the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of International Cancer Congress took place in Kanagawa Prefecture.

On 23rd October, HIH Princess Yoko of Mikasa attended the 41st Welfare Sports Festival took place in Tokyo.
