From 9th June to 11th June, HM Emperor Akihito and HM Empress Michiko visited Fukushima Prefecture to attend the 69th National Tree-Planting Festival and inspect the affected area of Great East Japan Earthquake and Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster occurred in 2011.
It is considered to be the last time for Their Majesties to visit Fukushima Prefecture as the Emperor and the Empress.
On 9th June, Their Majesties met withe the residents of public restoration housing in Iwaki City.
At the evening, Their Majesties attended the reception of the 69th National Tree-Planting Festival took place in Iwaki City.
On 10th June, Their Majesties attended the 69th National Tree-Planting Festival took place in Minamisoma City.
On 11th June, Their Majesties visited the cenotaph for the victims of the huge tsunami occurred in 2011 in Soma City.
On that day, Their Majesties visited the wholesale market in Soma City which was rebuilt after the Great East Japan Earthquake and met with the family of the victims of tsunami.
